RANDAL EHM, Architect, Seattle, WA |
"This 6,400 sq. ft. four-story custom home fronts onto Puget Sound and has unobstructed
views of Mt. Ranier and Mount St. Helens.
The project was designed by Ehm Architecture's Seattle office in collaboration with
Timbercraft Homes, who designed and fabricated the wood frame structure using joinery
techniques and craftsmanship. |
 |
|
Elements of this project include
an entertainment room with home theater, a wine vault, a grand children's loft and a
view deck off the fourth floor."

Yodfat, Israel |
Project Designed by The Heder Partnership, Tel Aviv, Isreal. |
Our world just got a little bit smaller.
In December Timbercraft sent a timber frame and two craftsmen to help build a
new house in a small town in northwestern Israel.
|
|
The family assured us that our framers would be safe with them
but we were still relieved when we got the following report from Andy Norlander and Ed Haber:
“The village of Yodfat is an unusually peaceful settlement
in a country torn apart by ethnic conflicts.
Jews and Arabs have lived and worked here together in harmony
for nearly half a century. The people are all friendly
and the food is fantastic.”
|
|

Every house in Yodfat is made from poured concrete.
So far as we know, Yodfat also has the distinction of having the only house in Israel constructed with Douglas fir
timbers and mortise and tenon joinery.
|
According to information gathered by our intrepid explorers, Yodfat has the
unique distinction of being the Israeli village
with highest rate of adult children who return to live where they grew up.

Flat roofs are a requirement of the Local zoning code.

Exterior walls will be finished by installing an infill system composed
of lime and plaster over lathe in the spaces between the vertical and
horizontal timbers.

New Timber-Frame Residence
Influenced by Japanese Design |
Architects:
Timbercraft Design Group |
Timbercraft design group just completed the plans for this home on Vashon Island, near Seattle, WA.
A few of the
traditional Asian design features included in this plan are two natural curved logs, or hiro beams, which span the vaulted
living room ceiling; a low pitched tile roof that shelters the ineer and outer engawa and broad horizontal patterns of windows
and glass doors that open the interior rooms to views of Puget Sound. Almost all the rooms in this home include areas
especially designed to display the owners' distinguished collection of Asian art.
Timbercraft Design Group is proud of its history with "cross-cultural" design.
