Based on a house designed in 1920 by California architect, Bernard Maybeck,
this Timber-frame home is both primary residence and work place for a fiber artist.
Living spaces are arranged around a central, enclosed courtyard, as they would be
in a traditional northern European farmhouse.
The plan includes three separate activity zones: living room-studio and master
bedroom loft, a guest suite and library; and a single car garage. The simple
geometry of the U-shaped house is accented by a steeply pitched roof, gray
stucco walls and tall window bays.
The reclaimed Douglas fir timber frame and thoughtfully designed interior
finishes share the common language of fine craftsmanship.
