Electric Heat
A contemporary treatment of a classic early American saltbox.

The New England Classic was designed and built in Japan as a model home. The house was fully finished
with American materials and furnished with Shaker style furniture.

|

The house was designed around an open plan. Interior walls were eliminated whenever possible and interior
posts were used to define activity areas. Rooms on the main level are open to a solarium and deck. A wide
stairway leads to the bedrooms, baths and study on the second level. |

A bedroom tucked beneath the sloping rafters is concealed from the dining below by a solid half wall.
This contemporary version of an American classic home demonstrates a respect for fine wood craftsmanship,
and an appreciation for American culture. Both are values that are commonly shared by Timbercraft's Japanese clients. |
